Job Summary:


The Pallet Repair Operator refurbishes damaged Chep pooled pallets (block or stringer) that weigh up to 85 lbs using speed, accuracy and detail that meet company standards for safety, security, and productivity while adhering to CHEP's quality criteria. Fast paced production environment that requires meeting and exceeding production quotas on a daily basis.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Comply with all company procedures and safe work practices while using the provided Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) at all times while performing job duties.
  • Ensure that daily inspections of tools, work station and check lists are completed.
  • Pull pallets on to workbench.
  • Inspects pallets visually for compliance with quality criteria. Remove damaged boards with crow bar, hammer and/or saw.
  • Cut or hammer down bent or broken nails.
  • Attach pre-cut boards according to Chep specs using a pneumatic nail gun, electric screw gun and hammer.
  • Cleans personal pallet repair area during and at end of shift.
  • Meets or exceed daily production target.
  • May be required to work overtime during week or weekend.

 Experience and Requirements:

  • Some experience in construction, carpentry, landscaping and/or related field.
  • Ability to safely operate power tools.
  • Ability to safely use basic hand tools
  • Ability to understand and follow instructions.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Good attendance and punctuality record.

Work Environment:

  • Frequent lifting, pulling, flipping of 75 to 85 lbs. pallets.
  • Ability of standing and walking for extended periods of time (at least 2 hours straight, four times in an 8 hour day).
  • Able to twist, stoop, squat, reach above shoulder level and crouch on a frequent basis.
  • Able to use hands and feet simultaneously and perform repetitive movements.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and depth perception.
  • The work environment consists of occasional seasonal temperature shifts ranging from cold to very hot.
  • Exposure to dust and loud noise (Personal protective equipment provided).
  • Regular exposure to moving mechanical parts and moving forklifts.
  • Scheduled 8 hours per day.
